Empowering Canadian Makers to Follow Their Dreams

They call us an artisan retail business incubator—we believe we’re inspiring Canadian makers across the country to follow their dreams, build successful businesses, and be part of a community-driven movement that’s all about our makers, their stories, and beautiful, handmade products.

Our story at a glance: start small, dream big.

It all started when founder Colleen Imrie wanted to help artisans follow their dreams and build successful businesses.

Several years later, 4+ stores, and a massive online marketplace—and it’s clear why makers and shoppers love The Nooks.

The Nooks is a creative space that allows Canadian artisans and entrepreneurs to sell their handmade items both in-store and online.

What’s it mean to be part of The Nooks?

Take your creativity to the next level by opening up your business to a Canada-wide audience.

We’re committed to going above and beyond to create a supportive community.

For buyers, we do our best to ensure they have an amazing experience. For our sellers, we provide ongoing business support, enriching courses and material, and access to a community that’s all-in on your success.

We’re 100% Canadian, 100% handmade, 100% of the time.

You can trust that any products sold through The Nooks are handmade with the highest quality. We don’t just accept anyone on The Nooks. We vet all makers because we know how important quality, handmade is to our customers.

We’re giving Canadian makers a national storefront.

Our makers pour their heart and soul—their passion—into creating products that are 100% unique. Our community-first approach and innovative retail-online model gives makers a national storefront so Canadians from coast to coast can shop Canadian handmade.

Our Values

We support Canadian makers

You’ll always keep 100% of the sales you make

Anything is possible if you work for it

We strive to create a supportive community of local artisans

Our vision is simple: We want to empower, educate, and help Canadian makers become successful.

And when you’re successful, we’re successful. That’s why you’ll find everything you need—from business resources to the daily support you need to carry on.

What is a Nook?

A ‘nook’ is a small, defined retail space within a large store. It’s a place that offers you full control over the entire process of selling your product.

This includes displaying, merchandising, pricing, promoting, and branding your handmade business.

It’s our mission at The Nooks to inspire and nurture your entrepreneurial spirit. We want to help you be successful and become a part of a community of like-minded Canadian crafters. We are doing this passionately; one maker, one nook, and one community at a time.

What’s it like being part of The Nooks?

“Without TRYING, you'll never know the true growth and success your business can potentially gain. You have to first and foremost INVEST to succeed. The Nooks has offered my business the opportunity to grow, expand and LEARN by offering amazing retail opportunities and resourceful tools to help you succeed.”

Meghan Paterson - Blazing Bombs

“The Nooks has been a fantastic way to grow my jewellery business. I started out with no idea where I wanted to take my business or what it could become. But when I joined The Nooks it allowed me to try different things and get a sense of what works and what doesn't.”

Molly - Neon Lace

“I plan to grow with the Nooks and I can’t wait. I have a great respect for The Nook’s owner Colleen Imrie and her amazing innovative team that are always working hard for their Nookies because our success equals their success.”

Angie - Freckle Face

“If I can communicate one thing about being a part of The Nooks community, it's that they are constantly pushing forward. The Nooks is not afraid of innovation, and it shows in the success of all of their locations.”

Laura - Fluid Concept

“I can’t wait to see what the future holds with The Nooks. The Nooks has taught me to love my business and it will love me back.”

The holidays are fast approaching, and if you (like me) haven’t checked everyone off that gift list yet, do not panic! More than ever this year, the idea of sticking close to home (or better yet, staying inside) has never been so appealing, or so important. So, if you (like me) still need a few choice presents for your loved ones, here are a few perfect places to #shoplocal. Instead of praying for that box to be delivered on time, try a curbside pick-up at a shop nearby. Make supporting your community a priority this year (and every year for that matter).
